To obtain a social security number in Spain you need to apply online by following this link.
Here are the steps:
- Enter your e-mail address
- You will receive an email to confirm the address
- Fill in your personal details (no need to add a second surname)
- Take a photo of yourself with your passport (make sure you can see your face and passport details). If you don’t have a passport, you won’t be able to enter your identity card details.
- If you don’t have a passport – we assume you’ll need to enter the NIE number as identification and then take a photo with the ID card, attaching both documents.
- Fill in the subject of the request: “solicito un número de seguridad social”.
- Fill in a document with your information and attach it.
