Would you like cool and cheap places to eat, drink or hang out? We have selected 7 mobile apps to help you fully live your Erasmus experience abroad.
Too Good to Go (the anti-waste app)
Too Good to Go is an app that fights against food waste. Through the app you can order different unsold products from restaurants, greengrocers and more. It is a great way to eat quality food for less and to take action for this cause. You can then order products that cost between 2 and 7 euros depending on the prices established by the sellers.
Our advice: order as soon as possible, as quantities are very limited.
Lydia (instant refund of your debts between your group of friends)
We have all been there. You are enjoying a drink or eating at a restaurant with your friends and at the end comes the time to pay. With Lydia you can say goodbye to paying back your friends with coins and transfers that take a long time to arrive.
This way you can pay back your friends instantly, the only information you need is their phone number. To use this app you will also need to have a phone number and to link your bank account number. To be charged quickly, simply add the phone number from the person you want to make the transfer to and indicate the amount. A four-digit code sent to both users will secure the transaction.
Note: a transaction can be made only if both users have the Lydia app installed.
The Erasmus app of your city of destination
This app will allow you to know which events (parties, trips, cultural activities) are being hosted by Erasmus. If you are a student, it is a good way to meet new people, make new friends and to discover the city in a completely different way.
Affluences (to find a library to study)
You want to study or read in a calm atmosphere but you do not know if there are places available in a library? Affluences calculates in real time the influx of local libraries and public spaces. Only a few users find that queue times are not always updated, questioning the app’s reliability. You can also use this app to know the opening hours of the places that you would like to visit.
Duolingo (to learn a new language)
To prepare a trip or to simply improve your language skills, you can have access to online lessons, quizzes and exercises. You can download Duolingo on your computer, phone or tablet. This way you can enjoy the app anytime and anywhere! Fast and simple exercises will be available and will be adapted to your language level.
Yuka (to scan the products you buy and improve how you eat)
Yuka is an app that will help you control the food you eat and the products you consume by scanning the barcode. The app will then tell you the nutritional facts of every product you scan, and will rate the products in four categories: excellent, good, mediocre and bad. It is an excellent way to learn how to balance the way you eat and make better choices.
WhatsApp (to communicate anytime anywhere)
Communicating while being abroad is easier with WhatsApp. This app will be very helpful to text or call whoever you want for free even if you are on the other side of the Earth. WhatsApp can only work properly if you have internet access on your phone. You will no longer need to pay out-of-bundle bills at the end of the month.
