Choosing Rome for your Erasmus Plus: a sense of wonder
Let’s start with the obvious. If you decide to make the Italian capital your new home, you’ll be amazed. The beauty of this city is overwhelming. In other words, choosing Rome for your Erasmus Plus is a way of infusing beauty into your European mobility. There’s wonder around every corner. Architecture, atmosphere and ambiance, cultural and sensory offerings: Rome is an inexhaustible jewel. And above all, it’s very extensive from an urban point of view! In other words, there’s plenty to discover.
A European capital still accessible to all budgets
In this age of inflation, choosing your Erasmus Plus destination is not always easy. Opting for a European capital rather than a medium-sized metropolis is a worry for your finances. What’s more, salaries in Italy are among the lowest on the European continent. On the other hand, choosing Rome for your Erasmus Plus comes down to combining the two. Rents are moderate. Expect to pay 500-600 euros for a single room in a shared apartment, and around 300 for a shared room. And the cost of living (outings, shopping, expenses) remains low.

An island of nature
Rome is huge. But the city has plenty of green lungs to escape the urban rhythm. Parks, surrounding forests, but also the seaside. In Ostia and Santa Marinella, you’ll have direct access to the beach in half an hour by train from Rome Ostiense station. Among Rome’s most beautiful parks, you’ll find Villa Ada, Villa Doria Pamphilj and Villa Borghese. Tutte stupende!
Take time to stroll around the café
The epitome of la dolce vita, al caffè is more than just an activity in Rome. They’re a way of life! Leaning at the counter or sitting on the terrace, these moments are a great way to get to know the habits and customs of transalpine Europeans. For the Romans, the little black coffee and the cappuccino are sacred, and the scene of rich exchanges and anecdotes. A true cultural immersion!
